New Jersey has emerged as a hotspot for the film industry, with the filming of new projects being spotted in towns like Montclair, Hoboken, and more each week. Filming in Newark
For the past two months, The Devil Wears Prada sequel has been filming in NYC, and now production is heading across the Hudson to film in Newark on September 10th. Grant Wilfley Casting previously put out a casting call for extras ages 20 to 70 to portray first-class and coach airplane passengers in Newark. According to NJ.com, all roles have been filled. While the exact filming location is still under wraps, Newark locals should keep an eye out for Miranda Priestly, Andrea Sachs, Nigel, and the whole “Runway” crew.
The Devil Wears Prada 2 is not the only project to recently use Essex County as its backdrop. In Newark last month, Keke Palmer and Jimmy Fallon quizzed New Jersey locals while filming season three of NBC’s popular game show Password. This past summer, Adam Sandler also turned Montclair, Livingston, and other NJ towns into Hollywood sets for the filming of Happy Gilmore 2, which was released on Netflix on July 25th, 2025.
